My Day And Night Skincare Routine With Luxe Botanics (And A Giveaway!)

Luxe Botanics is an all-natural luxury skincare line developed by biotechnologist-turned-beauty boss Jené Roestorf, thanks to her South African upbringing, passion for social entrepreneurship and decade-long career in the pharmaceutical industry. They offer three product ranges featuring the exotic botanical oils Camu Camu from Brazil, Kigelia from Malawai and Marula from Kenya, each carefully formulated to bring out their most potent qualities.

As a beauty brand with a conscience, Luxe Botanics is also a fair-trade enterprise that has partnered with Buy1Give1 to allow customers to give back to the communities who harvest and process the botanicals, providing dignified work opportunities and skills training for the women, educational supplies for children and care for the land.

Because the brand is founded and headquartered in my hometown of Singapore, I was really excited that they were exhibiting at the Indie Beauty Expo and made sure to connect with Jené in person. While I often suffer from product overload as a beauty blogger, it was impossible not to be won over by the breadth and depth of her product knowledge and her genuine desire to make an impact in both the beauty industry and the communities she work with.
After going through the product lineup with me, she recommended that I tried their Camu Brightening Serum and Marula Hydration Serum, both of which I fell in love with! Although both products are marketed as serums, I would describe the Camu as more of a lightweight lotion and the Marula more of a nourishing face oil, so it has been easy to layer one over the other and incorporate both into my day and night skincare routine.
Camu Brightening Serum ($85.00 for 1 oz / 30 ml)
The Camu Brightening Serum features Camu Camu fruit extract that comes from handpicked berries of the Camu tree along the river in northern Brazil, a true superfood with an antioxidant capacity that far exceeds that of other food. Being superiorly rich in Vitamin C, and high in flavonoids, amino acids, minerals and fatty acids, it is perfect for targetting dull skin and hypigmentation, my top two skin concerns.
It is also worth mentioning that the headlining ingredient shows up at the top of the ingredient list, justifying the price point because you are not paying for water or fillers but pure Camu goodness boosted by other brightening botanicals like tea extracts and Gotu Kola and skin-plumping ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid and Squalene.
I have been using two full pumps of this post-cleansing all over my face and neck and enjoy the calming, herbaceous scent that subtly lingers after the product is absorbed into my skin. This serum is like a drink of water for my parched winter skin, and I have noticed an overall evening out of skin tone with a more revitalized complexion, although I haven't seen significant fading of my sun spots after testing it for a week.
Ingredients: Myrciaria Dubia (Camu Camu) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Japanese Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Darjeeling Black Tea) Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) Extract, Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos/ Red Bush) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid)*†, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate SE*†, Squalane†, Phospholipids†, Ubiquinone (CoQ10)†, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Ester)†, Gluconolactone†, Ferulic Acid†, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Allantoin*†, Juniperus Virginiana (Cedar Wood) Essential Oil, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Essential Oil, Salvia Oofficinalis (Sage) Essential Oil, Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Resin Extract (CO2), Cymbopogon Martini (Palmarosa) Essential Oil, Cupressus Sempervirens (Blue Cypress) Essential Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Essential Oil, Rosa Centifolia (Rose Absolute) Essential Oil, Matricaria Recutita (German Chamomile) Essential Oil, Citrus Aurantium Var. Amara (Neroli) Essential Oil and naturally occurring components of essential oils: Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene and Linalool.

Marula Hydration Serum ($70.00 for 1 oz / 30 ml)
The Marula Hydration Serum showcases the Marula nut, a time-honored African beauty secret and an overachiever that works for every skin type, wild-harvested and processed by the local Maasai women in Kenya.

As with the Camu serum, you are definitely getting a bang for your buck because Marula oil is at the top of the ingredient list, followed by vital carrier oils like Jojoba, Carrot Seed and Cranberry seed. The result is glowing skin with improved skin elasticity and suppleness, which I very much appreciate while going through the depths of winter here in New York. It also has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties to fight acne and treat your blemishes and scars.

I was surprised by how rich this serum is, with an almost honey-like viscosity, and it multitasks as both a moisturizer and face oil for me. I layer a single pump of this over the Camu serum during the day to achieve a dewy complexion and two full pumps at night to lock in the moisture when I sleep. I honestly haven't had my skin feel so soft and smooth in a while, and I swear that even with my sleep deprivation, it makes me look younger when I look into the mirror!

Ingredients: Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Ribes Nigrum (Blackcurrant) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) CO2 Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Red Grapefruit) Essential Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Essential Oil, Citrus Reticulata Var. Blanco (Tangerine) Essential Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Essential Oil, Propanediol*†and naturally occurring components of essential oils: Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene and Linalool

P/S: I am partnering with Luxe Botanics to give away a full-sized serum (of your choice) on Instagram, so be sure to take part!

For a limited time only, you can shop these serums on the Neiman Marcus website, so don't miss your opportunity to show indie beauty some love!
