Lina Hanson Defies Beauty Stereotypes With Her All-Inclusive Global Collection

If there is one thing you need to know, it is that Lina Hanson does not subscribe to beauty stereotypes. She is defying social norms by promoting an all-inclusive understanding of beauty through her epynomous Global Collection that is formulated for all ages, ethnicities, colors and shape.

As a celebrity make-up artist and natural beauty expert, her approach to her craft is about helping her clients look like the best version of themselves. She defines beauty as being authentic and embracing the beauty in yourself, despite what the media wants you to believe.

Inspired by her global travels, Lina draws on beauty rituals and unique ingredients from around the world to create a multi-tasking luxury skincare line with a less-is-more philosophy. Her ingredients are ethically sourced from women's co-ops and farmers to create positive contributions to their livelihoods, and she also partners with different charities every few months and donate a perfect of her net sales to them.

Despite having worked with the likes of Brooke Shields, Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor and having appeared in publications like Elle, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, Lina remains refreshingly sweet and down-to-earth. We connected over a shared love for travelling on Instagram several months ago, and she generously sent me some products from her lauded collection to try. I brought the set along with me on my recent trip to Europe and was very impressed with how well they performed.

Global Face Trio ($70.00 for 3.4 oz)
I reviewed a travel-size of the Global Face Trio in Boxwalla's December "Let it Glow" Beauty Box and decided to pack the full-size in my travel kit. This product is close to my heart because it taps into Lina's beauty discoveries while travelling through Southeast Asia, with exotic ingredients like thanaka (a Burmese tree bark), rice bran, ginseng and lemongrass. This versatile product will clarify and remove impurities from your skin and tighten your pores for an unbelievably soft and brighter complexion, and you will see results from your first use.

Designed to simply your skincare routine, this gentle but effective product is perfect for a life on-the-go and fully customizable for your skin concerns- add equal parts water and powder for cleansing, less water for deeper exfoliation or mix with water, honey or yoghurt and leave on as a mask. I enjoy this most for light exfoliation every other day after my make-up is removed- it gives a deep cleanse to remove the grit and grime off my face from being exposed to the elements all day long.

Ingredients:  Kaolin (White Clay), Limonia Acidissima (Thanaka) Wood Powder,** Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Powder* Oryza sativa (Rice) Bran Powder, Acanthopanax Senticosus (Ginseng) Stem Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Stem Powder, Citric Acid, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root, Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice) Root Powder, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Oil,* Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin) Peel Oil,* Limonene*** Citronellol*** Geraniol,***
*Organic ** Wild Harvested ***Naturally occurring in essential oils
Global Face Serum ($85.00 for 1 oz.)
Lina needed a single product in her kit that would work for every ethnicity and skin type, and it took her over two years of research and blending to get the formula for her Global Face Serum just right. Deemed "the Holy Grail of Beauty Products" by People Style Watch, this face serum contains a rich blend of organic and natural oils like marula and baobab oil from South Africa and camellia seed oil from Japan and will hydrate and nourish your skin instantly.

You only need a single pump of this potent serum for your entire face, and I find it functions best when you prep your skin with a mist before. It works for both morning and night, doubling as the perfect primer before makeup application. Flying long distance and climatic changes tend to do a number on my skin and leave it dull and dehydrated, but the Global Face Serum allowed me to maintain a dewy glow through the harshest of winters in Europe. Its aromatherapeutic benefits are not to be missed as well, with an uplifting blend of mandarin, neroli, palmarosa and frankincense.

Ingredients:  Andansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil,** Argania Spinosa (Argan) Nut Oil,* Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Kernel Oil,** Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil,* Bertholletia Excelsia (Brazil) Nut Oil,* Cucurbita Maxima (Pumpkin) Seed Oil,* Citrus Reticulate (Mandarin) Oil,* Non-GMO Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Citrus Aurantium Amara (Neroli) Oil, Cymbopogen Martini (Palmarosa) Oil,* Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Oil, Citral,*** Limonene*** Linalool*** Geraniol***
*Organic ** Wild Harvested ***Naturally occurring in essential oils
Global Treasures Balm ($105.00 for 1 oz)
The Global Treasures Balm is why I first fell in love with Lina Hanson's line, and this tub of luxury is unlike anything I have seen in the market- a gorgeous jade-green balm with decadent 24k gold flakes sitting atop. The color comes from matcha green tea that soothes and protects your skin from sun damage and offers anti-aging benefits, and the gold is not merely ornamental- it is a powerful antioxidant and skin rejuvenator. The balm also contains crushed pearl powder which helps with collagen regeneration, and the intoxicating aroma comes from the coffee oil, which is useful for diminishing dark circles and plumping the skin.
This balm will melt on contact with your fingers and you can simply pat the product gently with your ring finger into any wrinkle-prone area on your face and neck. It is quickly absorbed into the skin and leaves no greasy residue, and although it is an eye/neck treatment you can apply a thin layer over your entire face if you want to feel like a queen.

Ingredients:  Camellia Sinensis (Thea) Seed Oil,* Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) Butter,* Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil,* Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter,* Citrullus Lanatus (Kalahari Melon) Seed Oil,** Pearl Powder, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Powder,* Non-GMO Tocopherol , Gold, Coffea Arabica (Coffee Bean) Oil,* Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Bean Extract, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin) Oil,* Limonene***
*Organic ** Wild Harvested ***Naturally occurring in essential oils

P/S: Lina recently revealed that she will be expanding beyond the realm of skin care, including a marketplace offering one-of- a-kind, artisanal items from her travels around the world. Who else is excited?
