Find Your Autumnal Grace With 5YINA

There has been a palpable energy shift in both my inner and outer states over the last few weeks. The arrival of fall carries with it a sense of loss and anxiety, as days become shorter and temperatures begin to dip. During the summer, we deal more with the expansive yang energy, often spending time outdoors and feeling carefree, but fall is when yin takes over and we practice introspection of our body and mind to recover, restore and prepare ourselves for the winter ahead.

Your skin will also appreciate some extra TLC in this transitional period, as prolonged exposure to the sun and other environmental aggressors over the summer can leave your skin drab, dry and dehydrated. A lot of people may wait until winter hits to switch their skincare routine, but Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is about preventative care and being in harmony with nature, so developing an Autumn skincare routine will ensure that your skin can receive the healing and protection it needs before the climate turns even harsher.

5YINA has formulated their seasonal skincare to help you transit through this in-between period with ease and grace, using only the highest quality organic or wild-crafted ingredients that work synergistically to encapsulate the essence of fall. I have reviewed their Winter and Spring skincare at length so my readers know that it ranks as my favorite green beauty brand and everything they make is sheer alchemy magic.

After what felt like an extended summer, the sudden change in seasons was a shock to my system, compounded by living in a very dusty environment while our new home is undergoing renovation. My usually well-behaved skin decided to rebel and pimples erupted on my cheek and around my nose and mouth, making me feel like a self-conscious teenager and prompting me to switch my skincare immediately. Using the Grace line and giving my skin a break from makeup helped subdue the outbreak.

5YINA Grace Autumn Hydrolat ($45.00 for 2 oz)

The Grace Autumn Hydrolat is a healing and rejuvenating elixir that will soften and soothe your skin for a more supple and illuminated complexion. The nuanced formula contains a base of active botanical distillates infused with time-honored Chinese medicinal herbs like the Mulberry leaf that brightens and rejuvenates the skin, Chrysanthemum flowers that contains lutein and flavonoids that will repair oxidative damage and nourish and lighten your skin naturally, and Oolong tea that is antioxidant-rich and will lessen free radical damage.
It has a subtly sweet and woodsy scent that is evocative of a walk in the woods, and it has had such a grounding effect on me that I find myself repeatedly misting it liberally all over my face. This multi-tasker acts as a toner, a primer for the 5Yina Beauty Oils, a makeup finishing spray and an instant refresher for the skin.

5YINA Grace Autumn Beauty Oil ($145.00 for 1 oz)
The Grace Autumn Beauty Oil is a deeply reparative treatment that is brilliantly crafted with fatty acids, antioxidant-rich botanicals and skin-perfecting essences, with a balanced scent of floral and earthy and a hint of spice. It contains TCM herbs like the tremella fungus dubbed nature's hyaluronic acid, Solomon's seal which is a yin tonic that promotes elastin promotion, osmanthus flowers rich in niacinamide and the reishi mushroom (also known as lingzhi) that boosts immunity and vitality of the skin.
It has a slightly heavier consistency than the other 5Yina Beauty Oils, but I have found that when I mix it with the hydrolat it takes on the consistency of a serum and goes on like an invisible protective barrier on my face. It absorbs quickly without any residual stickiness and leaves my skin feeling really nourished. I wake up with a more illuminated visage, my breakout under control and gradually healing over time.
