Ni Hao Paula! You are a wife, a mother, a makeup artist and a blogger. How do you juggle all these responsibilities?

I've been a makeup artist for 16 years and absolutely love it. I am now a freelance makeup artist and I work on my schedule which is amazing.

I only began blogging about 2.5 years ago to share my passion with readers. I love beauty and it's my way of inspiring others. It can be very overwhelming at times, juggling home life and work life, and it can be stressful, but I always try to keep a good work life balance.

Being a mom is natural to me, and my husband helps a lot and is super supportive. I look to exercise as a way of releasing stress, like walks or biking when times get tough. I'm not good with deadlines, but I make the effort to achieve them. I like to relax by having "me time" which is super important and it keeps me grounded. A bath or manicure helps! ;-)

What does an average day in your life look like?

I start my day by getting my son ready for school and squeeze in a workout after dropping him off when I have time. After that I plan lunch, post some social media reviews and catch up on emails, and then I run errands for the household. When my son comes home from school, I work with him on any homework or reading.

During the summer, my husband and I take our son to soccer 2x per week and we usually have him in some camp. When there's no soccer it's family time, so we will go for a bike ride or have dessert somewhere!

In the evening,  we either go out or I have dinner ready at home. I prep lunches for the next day and get my son showered and ready for bed. This is my time to unwind, and I connect with my husband for chat time. I'm usually in bed by 11:30 but there are times I stay up late.

How has your idea of beauty evolved over time?

Beauty to me is not always about makeup. Beauty has evolved in many ways since I've grown in adulthood, and it can definitely be a challenge for most young girls.

When I was growing up, there was no social media, so there was less potential for comparison. We need to start embracing that beauty comes from within. We are all beautiful inside and out.

What are some of your favorite green beauty brands?

There are so many great Canadian brands that I love. I absolutely love Gia Minerals from Calgary, Alberta. Georgina's products are stunning and her mascara is a must for bold lashes. Pura Botanicals is an all-natural skin care company from Edmonton, Alberta. Their skincare collection is absolute luxury. I love the overnight watermelon mask! There are so many to choose from... ugh the challenge!

Where would we most likely find you on a weekend?

I love spinning on the weekends, while my hubby and son are still sleeping in. Mostly I love being with my family, as living in a big city it's so fast-paced, which I'm sure you can relate, and family time is precious. My weekend schedule varies. We love to go bike riding in the morning, shop, have bubble tea, or dinner with my mom or my husband's family. I don't get to see my friends as often as I would like, but when it happens it's more for an occasion or catching up on life.

If you could say something to your younger self, what would it be?

I would tell my younger self, that life is very precious and our time spent on earth is timed. I wish I spent more time with family. There are times when I regret that since my dad passed away last summer. It was a very difficult time for me, and with every day passing I only think of the happiness being with my dad brought me. The last moment with him was in the hospital enjoying our Tim Horton's iced caps and talking about life and to always be happy.

Life is too damn short. I try and call my mom a few times a week, even if it's just a hello!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us Paula, and I hope I will have a chance to hang out with you in person soon!
