Why I Am Investing My Time And Money In The W.E.L.L Summit

For our third anniversary, my husband is gifting me the best present of all - a weekend away with my new-found tribe at the W.E.L.L Summit

The acronym, in case you're wondering, stands for Wellness, Empowerment, Learning and Luxury, and the summit is a specially-curated event for anyone interested in discovering the expanding realms of inner beauty/peace of mind, clean eating, of-the-moment fitness trends, making informed consumer decisions and exploring the now covetable field of green beauty.

The brainchild of wellness enthusiast and entrepreneur Gianne Doherty of Organic Bath Co., the idea for the summit came about after family and friends repeatedly reached out with various questions about household products, diet, fitness and beyond, prompting her to recognize the need to bring together various experts in the industry to present wellness from a 360 perspective. At the same time, years of corporate experience also convinced her that this event had to be different from your typical conference, and she wanted to create an authentic experience that cuts through the woo-woo to provide practical takeaways for attendees.

The inaugural W.E.L.L summit took place last year in Boston, and Gianne is looking to replicate the same success in New York this time with her team that includes Brandie Gilliam of Thoughtfully Magazine and beauty editor Nicolle Mackinnon.

The two-day event features both panel discussions and intimate and interactive break-out sessions with a speaker list that reads like a who's who of the industry, with various luminaries like fertility expert Aimee Raupp, celebrity chef Amie Valpone, green makeup artist Rebecca Casciano and co-author of green beauty bible No More Dirty Looks Siobhan O'Connor. What truly impressed me was that the event is not centered around a single personality, but the emphasis lies in building meaningful connections and being open to learn from others.

There will also be a kick-off party on opening night with a 8-free manicure bar by tenoverten and a marketplace where you can shop from Follain, True Moringa, Violets are Blue, Satya Jewelry and more, and an optional yoga class the next morning for you to get your om on. In additional, VIP ticket holders will be treated to an exclusive lunch on the first day and a mentor brunch on the second, and an extra-special gift bag!

Over the years I have come to recognize both my money and time as valuable currencies, and it did not take long for me to be convinced that the W.E.L.L Summit was a worthwhile investment. It's not every day that I can have such multi-faceted experiences in a single event, and I found myself nodding again and again at the write-ups for the breakout sessions.

My top picks? The two-part Sacred Beauty Salon series by Rebecca Casciano that will arm you with meditative and make-up tips to embrace your inner and outer beauty, and Aimee Raupp's workshop Renew Your Beliefs About Your Body and Reawaken To Your Healthiest You that will walk you through introspective exercises to understand your body better. I'm also super excited to learn more about building an ethical and sustainable wardrobe with Melissa Cantor of Ethica, eating clean with Amie Valpor of The Healthy Apple and turning my wellness obsession into a career with Dr. Gabby Pelici.

Whether you're a wellness aficionado, fellow blogger or just someone getting started on this journey, the W.E.L.L Summit has something for you. I hope to see some of you this October in New York!
The W.E.L.L. Summit will be taking place at the New York Marriott East Side on Oct 21-22 2016 and tickets range from $195 for a Friday ticket to $549 for a VIP ticket.
