Travel to Washington D.C. with
Jiya Beauty and Pearlesque Box

Pearlesque Box
I am excited to share that the gorgeous Pearlesque Box is going to be a regular feature on the blog- I first reviewed their March box featuring Skin Essence Organics from Toronto, and you can read my post detailing why and how founder Rochele Langere started the business.
In case you haven't heard, Pearlesque Box is the subscription box of every wanderluster's dream, delivering to your doorstep green beauty brands from different cities around the world every month. You can experience the best of natural and organic beauty products from exotic locales like Trikala, Greece and Newport, Rhode Island without ever having to leave home.
For just $39.95 a month, you will receive a monthly subscription box containing a minimum of 1-2 full-sized and 1-3 travel-sized products with a combined value of $75-$120, promising you savings of at least 45% off the retail price!

July's box features three full-sized products from Jiya Beauty (the reincarnation of Kumari Luxury) from Washington DC. You may notice that the packaging still feature the previous name as they have only recently rebranded and are still transitioning their products to the new look, but the philosophy and formulation within remains the same, so don't be confused!
Jiya, in Sanskrit, is the essence of life, the part of the soul that gives life vitality and exactly what creator Aarti Gala had in mind when she created this organic beauty line inspired by her nostalgic childhood memories. She wanted to develop products that were not only an experience for the mind, but also a retreat for the body, to encourage us to pause in the midst of our busy everyday lives and enjoy the journey we are on.
When I first heard from Rochele that the box contained hair oil, I must confess I was apprehensive to review it as I couldn't bear the thought of rubbing oil onto my already oily scalp. However, I did my research and was convinced by the glowing reviews on kimberlyloc and My Lucite Dreams to give the Luxury Oil Treatment a try (and boy was I glad I did!).
Described as a "nutrient-rich elixir" on a Huffington Post review, this Aryuvedic formula sits on a nourishing base of coconut, grapeseed and argan oil that moisturizes the scalp and nourishes the hair from within, while natural botanicals including sandalwood, turmeric, eclipta alba (also known as yerba de tango) and licorice roots heal the hair and stimulate hair growth. Consistent use of this hair oil will restore the balance the oil in your scalp, so using it as least once a week is recommended.
I followed the directions on the website and massage 10 drops of oil directly from the roots to tip of my hair, and then leaving it on for half an hour before washing it off with shampoo.  I was surprised by how easily the oil washed off without leaving a greasy residue and gave me silky, shiny hair. The only thing I was not crazy about the warm sandalwood and magnolia scent, but to each his own. I am out in the sun along during the summer, and I love this as a pre-shampoo hair conditioning mask.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Nut Oil*, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Magnolia Acuminata Extract, Santalum Spicatum (Sandalwood), Eclipta Alba*, Rubia Cordifolia*, Sida Cordifolia*, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric)*, Glycrrhiza Glabra (Licorice)*, Hemidesmus Indicus Root*, Withania Somnifera* and Messua Ferra (Saffron)
 * Certified Organic

Now I was impressed by the hair treatment oil, but I liked the River Bath & Body Oil even more. As a "soothing, cooling aromatic bath and body oil", this is a blend of grapeseed, sesame and olive oil infused with lavender and peppermint to offer you a sense of serenity. Applying body oil with a dropper does take more effort than the usual pump bottle, but this packaging works well when travelling since you don't have to worry about any spills.
This glow-inducing body oil absorbs really quickly into my skin and does not leave an oily film, which means I don't have to worry about it staining my clothes. It is lightweight but incredibly moisturizing, which makes it the perfect summer moisturizer for me. I definitely want to try the Sky and Earth blends next time!
Ingredients: Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed) Oil*, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Oil*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Extract, Lavandula officinalis (Lavender) Oil*, Mentha piperita (Peppermint) Oil*, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Oil*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil*, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil* and Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Oil*
 * Certified Organic

The River Aroma Mist is the companion to the body oil, and it can be used both as a face and body mist as well as room or linen spray.  The scent is not quite as nuanced as a Lotus Wei mist, but I think it works well for a quick pick-me-up on the go. I got Andrew hooked on using aromatherapy sprays at work, so this is going to go on his desk to help him diffuse stress and tension during his intense work days.
Ingredients: Grain Alcohol*, Distilled Water, Lavandula officinalis (Lavender) Oil*, Mentha piperita (Peppermint) Oil*, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Oil*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil*, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil* and Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Oil*
